Earlier this week I was watching "The Miracle on Hudson River", a documentary about US Airways Flight 1549 that hit a flock of geese and made an emergency landing in the Hudson River.
Can you believe it's been 5 years already? Feels like yesterday.
Towards the end of the film they interviewed some of the 155 survivors and noted how their lives had changed in unexpected ways. They talked about second chances... a new lease on life... living with purpose.
My favourite quote came from a man who thought he'd lost his son in the crash, only to find he had survived and was trapped on the opposite wing of the plane:
"Live for today, don't live for tomorrow".
Most people live their lives as if they have all the time in the world. Reading, researching, planning. Procrastinating and putting off taking action for tomorrow... then tomorrow... and tomorrow.
Of course, tomorrow never comes.
30's... 40's... 50's... 60's... still dreaming about what could be.
Until one day you wake up and you realise it's too late. Life has slipped you by. You're a statistic. Just another dreamer who had the keys to the kingdom and never walked through the gate.
Why do some people wait until a near-death experience to start living in the now?
Why do others have to hit rock-bottom before getting their shit together?
Why do you think tomorrow is going to be different to today if you keep doing what you've always done?
Take action like there's no tomorrow.
Because one day you're going to wake up and there won't be.
P.S. Been putting off the decision to apply for Tycoon Inner Circle? Start right now fixing this nasty habit. Do now what you've been putting off til tomorrow. You'll look back at today and be glad you went for it.
