"Idaho farm boy makes it to Beverly Hills".

What a great line.

That was the title of Jim Rohn's first public talk.

He was 31 and already a millionaire. Not bad for someone who made the decision to become wealthy just 6 years earlier when he was earning $57 a week.

This talk lead to other people asking him to speak... which lead to a seminar... more seminars... and eventually resulted in him speaking worldwide for over 40 years.

Just a few of the people who credit him with influencing their careers include Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Mark Victor Hansen, T. Harv Eker, and Jack Canfield.

Why am I telling you this?

Actually there are two reasons:

1. It's a great story! Jim is largely credited for being the first to really advocate the "rags to riches" story so common now in the personal development and marketing worlds.

2. A friend reminded me of this Jim Rohn quote today...

"Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals."

Most people who read that quote get it.

They nod and smile.

Simple. Elegant. Brilliant.

Then they go and buy another product teaching the latest and greatest magic money-making strategy invented yesterday by a guru who needs to pay the bills tomorrow.

(Of course he's selling it to you using the basic fundamentals of marketing applied consistently... but that never seems to register.)

Focus on applying the fundamentals.

Do it consistently.

That's all there is to it.
