Hacking feedback loops

In my experience, many people aren't where they want to be in life simply because they haven't taken enough action to learn from the feedback they've been given to build sufficient momentum of the right actions.

It's often useful to think of your business as a system.

And within that system are various sub-systems for things such as lead generation, sales, on-boarding, hiring, training, and delivery etc.

Each of these systems has feedback loops.

And they exist whether you're aware of them or not.

Here's what I mean by a feedback loop:

An action happens, it has one or more effects, and those effects are fed back to the action taker, then the loop starts again.

For example, your action might be to do five consultations with potential prospects, and the effect is you don't land any as a client. This comes back to you as feedback in the form of "that didn't work" and you're able to adjust your approach.

Sometimes the feedback is obvious and the solution simple.

Other times they're hidden beneath layers of complexity.

These feedback loops are critical because they tell you whether you're on the right track or not and help guide you in the right direction.

Perhaps you change your approach and take action again, this time the effect is you do three consultations and land two as clients. The feedback is "this approach is better than the other one" and you can use that knowledge in future action.

Now, here's a key concept for accelerated success:

Let me say that again because it's important...

Take two consultants, equal in all ways, but one is doing three consultations a week while the other is only doing three consultations a month. After each consultation they make adjustments based on what worked and what didn't, and improve for the next one.

It's obvious which one is going to come out on top.

So what if there was a way to hack these feedback loops?

To learn, adapt, and iterate faster than normal.

To achieve in months what takes most people years.

Here's a strategy that's worked for me:

Get feedback on your feedback.

Leverage the experience of those who have walked the path you're walking. How? By seeking advice on the effects you're experiencing so you can feed more accurate feedback into the system and take better action.

This is how you shortcut your path to success from fifty loops down to five.

And your time to results from years to months.
